What Does Your Personal Brand Say About You? Have you thought of yourself as the best in your field in your community?  Or the best surgeon for specific cosmetic procedures, such as liposuction or blepharoplasty?  Or even the best cosmetic urologist in your hometown?  Do your patients see you as the superstar and do they know about your specific areas of expertise? If not, you need to build a more cohesive image using branding.  Branding is the art of attracting your preferred patients using very specific messaging that will get their attention.

Last week I had the good fortune to attend Blog World Expo in Las Vegas, where many of the top blog/social media/digital experts met to share best practices and introduce new tools. I sat in dozens of discussions about social media, blogging, video sharing and monetization and throughout the conference there was a reoccurring theme: managing the balance between personal, professional and private through your social media profiles. Many people in social media struggle with this concept.

Contributed by: Roger C. Parker The starting point for a successful blog content plan is to create a realistic blogging schedule, one that identifies schedules, deadlines, and content categories. This involves 4 steps: Identify the minimum number of blog posts each week. Select the day, or days, your weekly blog posts will run. Establish realistic deadlines. Build the habit of consistent blogging by assigning deadlines for writing and proofing your weekly blog posts.

Tough Girl 101 . When I tell real life friends that the name of my site is Tough Girl 101 , it usually elicits a bit of a chortle, maybe a guffaw. It borders on too embarassing to say out loud… but that’s part of selling this damn thing. I suck it up, say it, and it usually sticks in people’s heads and once they start reading, the name of the blog is never forgotten! Most of the keywords that lead people to me (via search engines) are related to my very arrogantly worded title.

Source The power to analyze behavior and sentiment on Twitter and translate it into trends and direction is limited only by our powers of observation and imagination. As you may or may not know, I have assumed the role of data analyst at PeopleBrowsr , in addition to the other ventures I’m running or advising . Recently, I published the first in an ongoing series of Twitter-centric reports that covered The State of the Airline Industry on Twitter.

Those of us who have ever worked for large companies know that “branding” comes with a 462 page document called The Branding Guidelines.  If you read the document cover to cover you would find out how much space needs to be open around a logo in a document or presentation, how the company’s name can and cannot be written, and how each and every product needs to be referenced.

You might not be the offspring of Trump, Branson or Vanderbilt, but you do have a personal brand legacy. Consider your heritage: your parents, community, region, country, culture … (more)

Let me just say this up front: I think personal branding is a sham. The idea that you can have one thing that consistently defines you in all contexts of your life is ridiculous. It’s impossible to have one marketable brand that you can apply to every community you belong to. You can be “that guy” in specific circles — the rugby guy to your sports friends, or the photoshop guy to your tech friends — but the only thing you can be across group lines is yourself.

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries …. Pieces Of Red State ‘Send Rock Salt To Snowy Clime, As A Protest’ Plan Falling In Place – That’s probably one of the goofier protests I’ve read about in a long time. PA GOP Replaces “O” In Obama’s Name With Hammer And Sickle – And this, children, is one reason why partisan court elections are such a bad idea. Does President Obama Care About Public Opinion On Afghanistan? – We neither want a President who is a slave to the polls, nor who disregards what the people think.
