Rollover USA-401K Rollover to IRA is a post from: Rollover USA-401K Rollover to IRA If you are your brand – and for many small businesses, the owners are – your actions affect your brand. And it can be hard for your customers to separate the two. I’m not all that into building a personal brand, but I realize that as a writer I almost have to. So what I write on the web, whether personally or professionally, follows me around. And what you do follows you, too. And that means you need to think about what you post on Facebook.

Biltmore Who’s who is not a scam. Harmonize to many members who sing the praises of what this social networking and registry entity did to help them strengthen their business and personal brand reputation online. In fact, not only is Biltmore Who’s Who Inc., Biltmore Whos who is not a scam to these folks, but quite a few consider their membership a vital tool to help them compete for business and job success in today’s world.

Yesterday our newsletter focused on tips to begin to build your community. I thought I’d repost a portion of it here. The time in the early life of social media has come where people are beginning to question if it’s valuable. Many of our clients, friends, and peers have mentioned to us that they don’t see it working and are about to give up.

So, so, so much ink has been spilled on the “proper use” of social media for business. And as I continue to replace football season with my new pastime, reviewing friends’ marketing books, I expect to be seriously schooled soon by some of the best. I have three books by amazing social media experts on my shelf. It could have been fifty, no doubt. So much ink on such a new topic. As Mitch Joel has noted , not a single “social media expert” has put in the Gladwellian 10,000 hours in the field that would be a prerequisite to being a true virtuoso.

Lately, my inbox has been filling up with notices. Notices about the impending renewal date of my web-based server space, and the domain names attached to said space. Which means, as the emails ominously remind me, that once it lapses, neither I nor anyone else will be able to get at that data. I know I’m meant to be terrified of this possibility, but I just can’t muster an appropriate degree of fear.

Izeafest is still fresh in my head. One of the things that I took away from this conference was what one of the 5 minutes of fame speakers had to say. I don’t remember his name but he spoke of owning you. Own your name, by signing up for 25 digital/social profile accounts. The reason for this? When someone searches for you, or your ‘brand’ they should find nothing but you. Googling This routinely tells me what the interwebz is saying about me. I found me, my blog owns the number 1 spot.

Personal branding has become the current buzzword since Tom Peter’s article of 1997.It is no longer news that your personal brand is your face in the marketplace. It is your ability to use your own uniqueness to help others who buy into you. Getting and sustaining attention today is huge work. Many wonder why their efforts are not appreciated as much as they want. The problem with most of such efforts is fabulous self promotion that adds little value to their audience.

It’s becoming impossible to get through the day without hearing some expert or other holding forth about personal branding. They’re blogging, YouTube-ing and tweeting every hour of the day. Take Dan Schawbel, for example. The New York Times has apparently dubbed Schawbel a “personal branding guru”. He should be, he’s written a best-selling book about it and is the publisher of an award-winning personal branding blog ( www.personalbrandingblog.com ) and magazine.

Patti Stanger: Sassy, successful and a complete rock star of the dating world. From high end clients to a huge brand that encompasses TV ( Bravo’s “The Millionaire Matchmaker) , radio (P.S. I Love You on XM), print (her first book Amazon Link: “ Become Your Own Matchmaker: 8 Easy Steps To Attracting Your Perfect Mate “) and of course good ole brick and mortar business ( The Millionaire’s Club ). But how did her success happen and more importantly what can you learn from it? It certainly was NOT overnight and took tons of behind-the-scenes good old fashioned hard work.
