This is amazing - it’s hard to believe an attorney would submit something so unprofessional to a judge, and that a judge would take the time to mark up the errors in the document and order the attorney to show the errors to his client! Another reminder that *everything* you do is a reflection of your competence, your professional ability, and your personal brand. Make sure to proofread and use spellcheck! p.s. (Most of) the comments after the article are also worth reading.

There’s been a lot of noise lately about health care in this country, and frankly I’m getting a little sick from it. I thought about consulting my physician, but debate drain is not covered under my HMO. And yes, that is the quality of joke I think this whole debate deserves. I am routinely mystified by the manipulation of language we see in public debate. No one considers themselves to be anti-choice or anti-life, but that’s exactly the dichotomy that the abortion debate sets up.

By now you’ve probably read that after 44 staffers were laid off at CQ-Roll Call at the end of September, veteran editor Brian Nutting e-mailed the entire editorial staff (and cc’d the newsroom) a letter demanding answers from management. His email was immediately “leaked” online and a day later, he was fired for insubordination. A few days later, The Washington Post released new social media guidelines for its writers which take a pretty dim view of journalists having social media lives.

I read a blog post today that said social media is not for making money. I think this is only one side of the coin. I believe that you can utilize social media to make loads of money today and in the future. I am unsure if this posts give you reason enough to trust me, but if we discuss it I am sure we’ll reach a profitable conclusion. Fortunes on branding One thing that many companies spend fortunes on today, in order to make money, is branding.

When we hear the phrase “cover story,” we think of a story that’s not true. Recently on CollegeRecruiter.com , Sital Ruparelia suggested that career changers should have a cover story for those between-jobs situations when someone asks what the career-changer is up to these days. Ruperelia describes his personal experience with this process: “I came up with a “cover story’ — a vague (yet plausible) answer to that awkward question: “so what are you doing these days?” or the “what are you

The October issue of Publishers Weekly , the book world’s premiere trade magazine for over 130 years, is quite forward-thinking for such an old-time product. One glance at this edition’s cover — an artistic recreation of the magazine’s Twitter page — and it’s clear that this isn’t your great-great-grandfather’s Publishers Weekly . Actually, it’s the Viral Issue and it’s online and on newsstands now — what’s inside might surprise you.

Sex is the core of many celebrities’ personal brands. These popsugar people make a living being hot. They play out their lives with others who are just as hot. Megan, Brian, Scarlett, Ryan, Brad, Angelina, Gisele, Tom and the phalanx of usual suspects dance among their own kind. Their brand Sexy Sells images are not just the output of stylists and press agents. Sex is the brand born out by these celebs’ behavior. It works because, like the core elements of all successful personal brands, sex isn’t just aped by these lookers.

We’re recapping this weekend’s Online News Association conference through the lens of Twitter — assembling the most interesting or useful tweets from each session. I posted recaps of Friday’s sessions yesterday; here are Saturday’s . Among the topics covered: the social context of retweeting; why Twitter won’t boost your SEO; a Spanish Twitter-like tool for journalists; and the role of Scotch in journalism startups. You’ll also find two of the biggest (and, to my mind, successful) sessions of the weekend: “From Journalist to Entrepreneur” at 10 a.m.

I think by now that most people who pay close attention to social media marketing are probably familiar with Gary Vaynerchuk. He is the “social media” expert behind the now famous Wine Library TV . Frankly, I don’t much care for wine and rarely drink alcohol of any description but keep up with this website just to see what new ideas Gary comes up with that can be utlitzed for myself or my clients.

There is nothing good that does not has a cost attached. Everything that worth it will always make a demand from you. Today social media has become the buzz word. Many marketing communicators, public Relations experts and brand drivers are rushing into learning how to take advantage of the new trend. Trends as it is known do not last eternally. No one knows whether this will be applicable to social media though we seem to have made the tact impression it has come to stay for good.
