Source: Flickr If you are an artist, have you ever thought about sharing your passions, expressing your personality through your art, as well as selling your art as part of your…. brand ? If not, you are not alone! Many artists concentrate on their core activity – creating art – and leave more commercial aspects of their work to other people, for instance, art dealers. Think of your brand as your image and reputation , as perceived by those who enjoy and consume your work.

Some business owners arrive on social networking sites and immediately start working. They write hundreds of blogs, post many advertisements and start communications with many of the high profile networkers. They build huge networks within a couple of months. After spending two or three months they suddenly start feeling disillusioned. They wonder why nobody has given them any business. After all they have made hundreds of new contacts haven’t they? A few then start criticizing existing members of the sites and with a bang and a puff of smoke; they leave.

Is your resume generating disappointing results? Have you been sending your resume for positions that you know you are qualified for, but the phone remains silent? If so, you might want to check it and revise it against these ten common errors. 1. Including an objective statement that tells the reader what you want. If there is one major rule to keep in mind as you write your resume, it is that all of the content should be written to be employer-centered.

If your resume is not getting the attention you want, maybe you are committing one of these seven deadly sins of resume writing. Remember that recruiters and hiring managers will scan your resume for about 20-30 seconds to decide if it should be in the “keep” pile or the “no way” pile. Take 15 minutes to scan your own resume and audit for these common resume writing mistakes. Carelessness This goes without saying. Do not be afraid to ask for help to proofread your resume. Ask

I read niche blogs everyday for various reasons, some have to do with my industry sector, while others educate me on blogging as a profession. As you might be aware, I only started blogging full-time in March 2009, therefore it’s still a learning curve for me. That’s the beauty of blogging, you have all the answers at your finger tips… ProBlogger.net – Australian based Darren Rowse is the authority on blogging as a profession (every blogger sings his praises).

by Ellie Gant As usual, the Wow Green compensation plan shows that the same old ideas are just plain too profitable to disappear. Just like the programs you might recall from the 1970’s, the plan is all about talking other people into selling what you’re selling. Yes, you heard right: the Wow Green compensation plan is about going out and creating your own competition. Leaving aside the question of why exactly you would do that, let’s ask the more important question: why does the Wow Green compensation plan expect you to do that? It’s not hard to understand why.

Coaching paradox Mon 5 : The paradox of coaching is that, all to often, courses tend to be aimed at turning the coachee into a coach. So, generalising, someone who has taken a course because of personal issues, then sets up in business to advise and guide others. Leaving aside issues of transference, learning from someone who has been through a similar situation does have its merits. What I question are the elements of indoctrination with virtually every coach I have come across to date.

Izeafest is a tech savvy blogger & social media evangelists convention that I had the pleasure of attending recently. Ted Murphy kicks off the event, well actually it was Ted’s look alike brother that came out screaming and insanely intense. He got everyone going and must have yelled “WWWOOOOOOOOO” at least 10 times with his tongue sticking out. He finally introduced Ted and the ‘fest’ was underway. Ted talked a bit about what izea was and how it came to be.

On September 17th – Dan Lyons of Newsweek published an article that caught my attention at the time, entitled: Don’t Tweet On Me: Twitter shows that stupid stuff sells. Despite my initial desire to respond, for some reason or another, I never took the time or simply forgot. The article recently resurfaced in a brief flurry of online dialog and once again drew my attention – Why is their so much Twitter Hate, especially amongst journalists at reputable media powerhouses like Newsweek.

These days, it seems like Twitter is unstoppable. It’s all over the web, talked about on TV, and lately I’ve even been receiving corporate brochures with company twitter accounts listed. Twitter is becoming a mainstream business and networking tool, and it can provide power and reach for your freelancing business that can’t be ignored. I have personally been a Twitter user since 2007, and my active presence on twitter has become one of my most valuable business assets. People are using twitter in many different ways.

On Wednesday we are doing a free webinar on personal branding, and specifically, how to create your bio/story/profile. More info here , registration here . I get Thom Singer’s blog posts via email (you can do that on JibberJobber’s blog – just go to the top right of the blog and you’ll see a place to put your email addy) and almost always read them entirely. Thom is a sharp guy with a sassy attitude about relationships – he says stuff that networking folks don’t (for example, here’s

F reelancing, moonlighting, side jobs, and hustles – say these words to most people and they will immediately think you’re slacking off on your day job. You’re a sneaky weasel who hates his work and wants to earn extra income on the side while everyone else is dedicated to the company. Are we really that ignorant? We’ve put so much social value in a single-employee, 40-year career system, but as the recession is proving very painfully, that system only works so well.
