Sometimes it’s the simple things that we overlook the most. For Personal Branding, this is occasionally the email signature. If you look over the most frequent and pervasive communications tools we have, email is still a top contender for the vast majority of folks. With that in mind, anyone who has built a specific brand for themselves or for companies that are very brand aware, a custom email signature should be a “no brainer”. I’m surprised at how often folks tend to forget about this most basic of branding options.

Have you used RADIO to market your personal brand? Help! I am not saying this to brag or toot my own horn but I need to preface this question with respect to where I have been and where I am going… I have done an excellent job of building strong name recognition in my market area since 1994. I host community events and have branded myself with Coldwell Banker very well…I have ranked nationally with Coldwell Banker for listings sold…

Your brand is not in your hands anymore. The internet possesses powers that can turn you into a celebrity overnight. But the great god that giveth, doth also taketh away. In other words, deal with your business honestly or you won’t own a business anymore. Think this sounds dramatic? It’s true.Take the example of Brian King. Brian is media editor (video mostly) and also a podcaster. He’s a freelancer. He lives in LA and does great work. Brian had the opportunity to help someone who needed, more-or-less, a quick and dirty video done.

Beyonce Knowles ‘ studious ascension from first lady of contemporary R&B to mononymous multitalent has been ongoing for the better part of a decade, but somewhere in the past 12 months, she seems to have crossed an important threshold. Perhaps it was her keynote performance at Barack Obama ’s inaugural ball, the upward of $70 million made by her film vehicle “ Obsessed ,” the ubiquity of “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and its endlessly mimicked video, or the fact that, according to Forbes, she’s now the highest-paid star under 30.

The Eastside is becoming a hive of great presentations. Last night Warren Sukernek, Director of Content Marketing for Radian 6, gave a killer presentation for the PSAMA on how to “Tweet Your Way to a New Job.” He shared his own experience of finding a new job via social media, as well as ways to fine-tune your personal brand using social media marketing tools. The underlining foundation for his presentation was the importance of a “personal brand.” While not a new concept, Warren elaborated on how social media has made us as individuals so visible and findable defining a personal brand that reflects your tastes, interests and style is more important than ever.

To get support and sponsorship dollars, an athlete can no longer be just an athlete. What’s an amateur athlete worth these days? In marketing terms, winning competitions in your sport is only a small piece of the equation. In an era of marketing frugality, when corporate sponsorships at all levels are being cut or heavily scrutinized, an athlete’s exercise in personal branding — building up a fan base by touring community events and going viral — is becoming as integral a part of the weekly routine as squeezing in long hours of training.

Wow Green Compensation Plan Critical Review by Ellie GantSurprisingly, the Wow Green compensation plan demonstrates that some ideas are evidently too profitable to go away. Just like all the old programs from the 1970’s, this plan involves going around talking other people into selling the same thing you’re selling.Yes, you heard right: the Wow Green compensation plan is about going out and creating your own competition.

As I have been reading the recently released Six Pixels Of Separation by Mitch Joel, I’ve been struck by the (still newly) awesome power of the personal brand within a corporate structure. But what is personal branding? And why should your company care? Wikipedia defines personal branding as the “process [note: not end result] whereby people and their careers are marked as brands…defined as the creation of an asset that pertains to a particular person or individual…leading to an indelible impression that is uniquely distinguishable.” This is just a fancy way to say that who you are and all of the stuff you do can be packaged up into a composite image of sorts – especially online.

Now that you have a Twitter account, what do you do to make it work for you? Jump In and Start Tweeting: Social media is not exactly social in the beginning. It’s a lot of people, alone, standing at the edge of the chasm yelling trivial facts about themselves and their industry. And that’s why statistics say that up to 60% of Twitter users quit after a short time. A conversation starts with “Hello.” It’s a simple concept, but even communication-savvy professionals seem to forget this fact when they first sign into their Twitter account.

This week marks the 6-month anniversary of the day I launched Man Vs. Debt! Yippee! It’s been a freaky journey up to this point. I feel like I swallowed both the red and blue pills in one big gulp. I rarely try to blog about blogging, however I thought it would be fun to reflect on what I’ve learned in these first 6 months. Before we get started, let me make something very clear . I didn’t title this post ‘How to be an awesome blogger’ on ‘Blog your way to success’. First of all, those titles aren’t me. Second, I don’t think I have the knowledge or authority to tackle the subject from that angle.

Gen Y is often criticized for not wanting to “put in our time”, go through the drudgery of “paying our dues”, and do something monotenous when there are other options out there. “Job hoppers” they call us, “cry babies”, “pampered” and “entitled” have all been used in mainstream media to describe a generation who is simply ambitious enough to seek opportunity they can be 100% passionate about. Under30CEO sat down with Chandlee Bryan Executive Resume Writer & Career Coach at Best Fit Forward . Chandlee has made a business out of helping people land a job they love.

Fellow Business-Builder, I want to introduce you to two people today. One of them is real, one is entirely fictional. Both of them are highly successful, and pull in hundreds-of-millions in revenue per year. The best part? They use completely different approaches to grow their thriving empires. The main reason I wanted to talk about these unique business models is that they are both thriving in the downturn . They both sell higher priced clothing. And they both target a more affluent type of buyer.

If you haven’t already heard, Public Relations has changed forever. If you are still trying to get the word out about your music by writing press releases and blasting them out, or by stuffing hundreds of envelopes and mailing them to names on a “media list” I urge you to take a few minutes to read this interview.
