Continuing with my series on Primal Branding by Patrick Hanlon . I’ve discussed in previous posts the creation story and the creed. This week, we move to icons . Icon is something that allows people to able to instantly identify your brand. The iconic yellow boarder lets people know that you’re reading a National Geographic from a distance away. That iconic swoosh tells people that you’re wearing Nike, even if the brand name is no where to be found.

M any of the bloggers I am in touch with via my blog consultancy or Twitter have great ambitions with their blogs. The majority talks about quitting their jobs and making a lot of money online. It is good to be ambitious, but it is also important to be realistic. Only few bloggers make it into big money and it takes a lot of time and hard work. These big ambitions might be the effect of all the different membership sites and products that promise you to get rich from blogging when you sign-up.

by Joe on August 17, 2009in Geeky One of my social media heroes, Chris Brogan, has a book out today which has every marketer, social media professional and community manager talking about it. Seth Godin shared his strong support of Trust Agents, so that means a lot. Even if the content isn’t a complete revelation, Chris Brogan’s knowledge is strong and he invested a lot of time and effort into this publication. Even with out reading it, I fully endorse this book since Brogan is a guy I trust.

Accoding to nycgo , legendary creative George Lois is the one ad man in America not secretly in love with Don Draper. I’ve been accused of being the inspiration for the lead of Mad Men (ugh!), the TV show [on AMC] about an ad agency in the ’60s that depicts the exploits of cultural buffoons. So here’s what a day in the life of a real Mad Man was like. I would arrive at my ad agency [Papert Koenig Lois] in the exquisite Seagram building each morning at 5:45 (I kid you not) dressed in custom-made Meledandri suits, cooler than any suit ever seen on that “fashionable” show.

Wage horticultural warfare against the undead. Popcap Games are renowned for making simple, addictive games that are highly accessible to all types of players. Plants Versus Zombies has been seen as their first foray in to a more complex type of game, the tower defense genre is not known for it’s ease of use. However, Popcap has managed to pull together another downloadable classic for their catalogue with a game that is deep and enjoyable enough for the core game player without sacrificing the simplicity neophytes adore.

Image is essential for any successful business person and with this comes the issue of trust. A highly regarded and trusted business person will form stronger relationships, have a better personal brand and generally find more success in their business. A Reader’s Digest survey has found burns specialist Dr Fiona Wood is Australia’s most trusted person, followed by singer Olivia Newton-John and Tasmanian-born Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

At FreshMinds Talent we’re always looking at clever ways of helping graduate candidates to stand out from the crowd. There are sports teams, clubs, societies and of course academics. But increasingly, the internet is giving students a chance to differentiate themselves from their peers. And in the toughest graduate jobs market we’ve seen in years, there’s never been a better time to think about how you can build your online brand to land that dream first job. That’s why Donna Scott’s post caught my eye.

B efore we get to the controversial stuff, I want to make one thing clear: I am fully aware of the power of personal branding as a success strategy for web content publishers. A personal brand is a representation of yourself that you deliberately build to complement your niche. Effective personal branding increases your impact and influence among consumers of the products you promote as an affiliate publisher. As I see it, personal branding is the process of developing a unique and memorable presence and making that presence known to a target group of consumers.

Courtesy of my friends at WOMMA , I came across this new video of Jeben Berg, Creative Director at YouTube, discussing how to effectively leverage and promote your organization’s video assets. He clearly “gets” the concept of video as an effective means to initiate and focus discussion on brands. He also understands it’s a force multiplier when used in combination with other forms of text-based social media (discussion forums, blogs, wikis) and static web content.

For most of history, anonymity was the goal, especially in the U.S. Americans love their privacy. We have taken pain staking efforts to protect our right to privacy. The idea that people could know things about us, without our consent goes against everything we’ve stood for. For the entire 20th century Americans, and I suspect most of the world, tried their best to control what people could know about them. Much was done to limit personal information, for fear that too much information in the hands of others could be used against us.

There is no doubt that colleges and universities, both private and public, have their own unique reputations. Each institution’s reputation, or brand, is based on a combination of different factors, including its history, size, location, academic prestige, arts, athletics, resources and alumni. There will always be some schools that are better known or that have stronger reputations than others; however, no matter where you go to college or graduate school, your school’s brand doesn’t make or break your personal brand or the value that you would bring to an organization .

As a small business owner whether you are the Nursemaid or Weaver, there is actually more reason to be organized, not less. Even though a bit of spontaneity is ideal for and expected of small business, a certain amount of structure is vital if you are going to compete with what the bigger companies offer. Take your time now to really consider the scope of your business and record it. This will give you a solid idea of what your obstacles are, where you are, what your 10 year plan is, and how close you are to realizing them.

What Makes the Ugg Bailey Button Boot Such a Hit?

It's simple. UGG Australia has morphed together their two most popular styles. They started with the ever-popular UGG Classic Short Boot and then added a Wooden Button from their best-selling, as seen on Oprah, UGG Cardy. Put them together and you get this year's must have UGG style – the Ugg Bailey Button.

The Bailey Button is available in 5 colors including Black, Chestnut, Grey, Chocolate and Sand. California-based retailer Footwear etc. has received all 5 colors into stock at their 7 stores and is already seeing positive results. Footwear etc. Manager, Andrew Monarch, said "It is not a matter of IF the Bailey sells out, but how quickly. We highly recommend that our customers secure their boots early before it's too late."

Right, it is not a matter of IF the Bailey sells out, but how quickly. So we highly recommend that our customers secure their pair early before it's too late.

The UGG Bailey Button is also very versatile as it can be worn up or folded down for a different look. They feature a soft foam insole and a genuine sheepskin lining. If you haven't experience the comfort of authentic UGG Australia Boots yet then your feet have been missing out. Give the new UGG Bailey Button a try today or if it's not for you, there's always the popular classic styles including UGG Classic Short, UGG Classic Tall and UGG Classic Cardy.

But remember… don't wait to get your UGGs. Every year people procrastinate and then they can't find the UGG Boots they want. UGG Sale–Shop early for the best selection. The closer to Christmas you get the harder it gets to find UGGs.
